If you are like me you have a ton of accounts with username/password required to access the service/site. A couple of years ago I started using a password manager (LastPass) and have reset all my accounts with a crazy random/complex password/passphrase. I now only have a single password to remember, the one for my vault. I don’t even know my computer password. My work computer is a MacBook with TouchID. I generally only need to use my password after reboot, otherwise I use TouchID…and on my Windows computer I setup a PIN. When I do need to use my computer password I simply open up the password manager and display the complex password.
If you are not using a password manager, you are likely re-using passwords for multiple sites and putting accounts at risk. I highly recommend using a password manager. I’m currently using 1Password (my employer pays for a family account). My experience with LastPass was great…and moving to 1Password was an easy transition. I feel confident that if you pick either LastPass or 1Password, you will be more secure and will have an easier time logging in to all the things. So forget your password and use that grey matter for something more useful…like music trivia 😀
